Energy Conservation Day

‘There is enough for everyone’s needs, but not everyone’s greed.’ With this quote we highlight the importance of the responsible use of natural resources.

Rizvi College of Engineering marked Energy Conservation Day on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 10:30 am in collaboration with Help Yourself Foundation.

Calling upon the youth to take positive action towards energy conservation, the college embarked to raise awareness not only amongst students but the society at large, through a campaign.

Student volunteers came forward as Environment Warriors who went around in the neighbouring societies and shops talking to them about the importance of Energy Conservation. They also shared the vision of turning off lights and fans for 5 minutes between 12:30 p.m. to 12:35 p.m. to save energy and contribute towards protecting mother nature’s precious natural resources. The community members appreciated the efforts of Rizvi College of Engineering and willingly participated in the noble cause.

Tobacco Free Zone - A fight against Cancer

Help Yourself Foundation in association with the Rizvi Law College had organized Street Plays on “Tobacco Free Zone – A fight against Cancer” on the occasion of World Cancer Day i.e. Saturday, 4th of February 2023 at Bandra Railway Station, Khar Railway Station and at Rizvi Complex.

It was a powerful medium to raise awareness about the harmful effects of smoking. Through their exceptional performances these students successfully delivered a social message urging individuals to say “NO” to Smoking. The Help Yourself Foundation wishes that the impact of this street play will continue to resonate within the community, inspiring positive change and promoting a smoke free society – A TOBACCO FREE ZONE.

Complete Health Check-up and Aruvedic treatment Camp

Help Yourself Foundation in association with the National Service Scheme unit of Rizvi College and Unicare Health Centre organised a Medical Camp on Tuesday, 19th December 2023 from 9.30am to 2.00pm at Rizvi College of Arts Science and Commerce.

The medical camp focused on diabetes screening, body profile assessments, eye checkups and ECG examinations along with BMI assessment.

Overall 85 Teaching and Non Teaching Staff members underwent blood tests to assess glucose levels, received comprehensive body profiles, and had their eyes examined for diabetic complications.

ECGs were conducted to evaluate the cardiac health of some patients.

The eye check up was done for more than 40 students.

The camp aimed to early detect and manage diabetes-related issues, promoting overall well-being amongst attendees.

Based on the medical reports the staff members were guided about lifestyle and dietary choices, fostering a holistic approach towards their Health Management.

Breast Cancer Screening and Awareness Drive

Help Yourself Foundation is successfully sensitising the youth for their responsibility towards Nature. A seminar on Solid Waste Management – A remedy to Marine Pollution was organised in association with Rizvi College and United Way Mumbai on Monday, 19th December 2022 at Rizvi College in Biology Laboratory where 50+ students benefited.

Help Yourself Foundation is successfully sensitising the youth for their responsibility towards Nature. A seminar on Solid Waste Management – A remedy to Marine Pollution was organised in association with Rizvi College and United Way Mumbai on Monday, 19th December 2022.

In order to celebrate National Cancer Awareness Day i.e. 7th November 2022 Help Yourself Foundation in association with Rizvi College of Arts, Science and Commerce has organized a Poster Making Competition to acquaint the knowledge amongst young minds..

Following were the topics for Poster Presentation Competition:
1. Cancer and it’s types
2. Career in Oncology
3. Cancer – Emotional & Financial Crisis
4. Cancer Survivor – A real hero
5. Cancer therapies
6. Carcinogenic substances
7. Life style leading to cancer

The main intention is to engage students along with teaching and non-teaching staff to understand Cancer and related issues to work together in this fight against Cancer.

On the occasion of World Students’ Day, the Birth Anniversary of the Former President – APJ Abdul Kalam Help Yourself Foundation has organized a talk on Harmful Effects of Smoking on Saturday, 15th October 2022 at 12.00 PM in Biology Laboratory.

Help Yourself Foundation in association with N.S.S. unit and IQAC of Rizvi College of Arts, Science and Commerce had organized a Vaccination Drive mainly for 18+ years old students and for staff under the “Mission Yuva Swasthya” by Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) on Saturday, 30th October 2021 from 10A.M. to 04.00 P.M. In total 117 students and staff got vaccinated in this program

Help Yourself Foundation in association with the department of Botany and Science & Nature Club of Rizvi College of Arts, Science and Commerce had organized a very interesting online talk on “Entomology in relation to Botany” by the Entomologist, Dr. Yojana Sidram Muniv of C.K.T. College on Friday, 29th October 2021 at 11 A.M.

E-Quiz to commemorate World Environment Day on Friday, 5th June 2020

Help Yourself Foundation, in association with NSS unit of Rizvi College of Arts, Science and Commerce has conducted a “Tree Plantation Drive” on Friday, 1st November 2019 at Manor in Palghar district. The Gram Panchayat of Manor, Palghar has given 90 plant saplings which were planted by NSS volunteers and NSS Programme Officers.
