Covid-19 Vaccination Drive by Adv. (Mrs.) Rubina Akhtar Hasan Rizvi

The Covid-19 pandemic disrupted lives worldwide, creating a pressing need for mass vaccination to curb the spread of the virus. In response, Adv. (Mrs.) Rubina Akhtar Hasan Rizvi took a proactive step to organize a Free Mega Vaccination Drive in partnership with Sai Hospital on the 19th, 20th, 26th, and 27th of June, 2021. This commendable initiative aimed to protect various sectors of the community, especially those most at risk and essential to keeping society functioning during the pandemic.

The drive, which administered the CoviShield vaccine, targeted key groups including:

  • ● 500 Mumbai Police family members who were on the front lines ensuring public safety during the pandemic.
  • ● 180 members of the press and media, who kept the public informed through their continuous reporting.
  • ● 150 students and 49 teaching and non-teaching staff from Rizvi College, ensuring their safety as educational institutions prepared to reopen.
  • ● 289 students and 90 teaching and non-teaching staff from Rizvi Education Society, an essential step in safeguarding the educational ecosystem.

Beyond this, Adv. (Mrs.) Rubina Rizvi ensured that no student or staff member was left out. For those unable to attend the initial drive, additional free vaccination drives were organized in collaboration with MCGM and BMC on:

  • ● 30th October 2021 (363 students and staff),
  • ● 24th January 2022,
  • ● 29th January 2022 (242 students), and
  • ● 12th February 2022 (198 students).

This initiative was a testament to the importance of community collaboration in times of crisis, and the efforts of leaders like Adv. (Mrs.) Rubina Rizvi were crucial in ensuring that key members of society were vaccinated and protected.

These vaccination drives have not only contributed to the health and safety of many but have also helped in the gradual return to normalcy, allowing students, educators, and frontline workers to continue their essential roles in society.
